STATE COLLEGE- In a 25 to eight vote, Penn State will close seven of their branch campuses, including DuBois.
After weeks of discussions and hundreds of direct emails and public comments, the board of trustees voted to close the DuBois, Fayette, Mont Alto, New Kensington, Shenango, Wilkes-Barre, and York campuses.
Now, as Board President David Kleppinger says, a reimagining phase will begin for these seven locations.
“At this point we can move forward with the reimagining of these geographic sites,” explained Kleppinger. “Consistent with the commitment that President Bundapaudi has made on working with the local communities, the local politicians, and other developers that may be interested in these facilities.”
It was also stated that these closures should enhance 13 other campuses. While some members fought against this decision, the seven campuses will close after a two-year wind down period.
