Penn Highlands Elk Announces Bid for Trauma Center Accreditation

ST. MARYS – Penn Highlands Elk has announced their intent to try and become a Level IV Trauma Center.

The healthcare facility has now submitted a letter of intent to the Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation, to try and become a trauma center.

Professionals believe that the St. Marys area needs trauma services that could otherwise be deadly situations. 

The process of becoming an accredited trauma center is expected to be done in two to three years.
