CLEARFIELD – A decision has been made on next year’s salaries for Clearfield County’s non-union employees.
The Clearfield County Salary Board voted this week to approve an eight- percent increase in pay for most positions, but there are some exceptions. Commissioner Dave Glass explained that new hires will receive very little, if anything, and there are others who will receive an extra increase to reduce salary gaps.
The board turned down an across-the-board nine-percent salary increase proposal by the county’s two judges last week.
Commissioner John Sobel noted that he believed that some raises were “awfully large” for government jobs in public service, but he also saw specific cases where salaries were far too small and how it was affecting employee morale.
