GRAMPIAN – A Reynoldsville based paranormal investigation group is exploring a church in Grampian as the location is preparing to reopen to the public.
Down Home Paranormal focuses on public and private investigations, bringing a mixed bag of experience and tools to determine whether or not there is a spiritual presence.
The group is currently investigating the Chestnut Grove Church, a location built in the early 1800s. Accompanied by a cemetery, the location has been closed for close to two years, and is currently being renovated with plans to reopen soon.
Now, as these renovations are being made, Down Home Paranormal are setting up to catch the presence of spiritual activity within the church.
According to owners, and seasoned investigators Samii Courtea and Harlie Wells, they will be at the church for the fall season while they wrap up their investigation.
“There was this lady out from California, she got a hold of us,” explained Courtea. “She wanted us to see if there was any activity in this place, and there is. We’ve had plenty of Rem Pod hits, we’ve had tripwire hits, the portal we get voices over that. So for sure this place is haunted.”
“The most popular voice we hear over the portal is a little girl,” said Wells. “She will come through the portal and go ‘Hi, Hi’.”
“And then there is a guy with a deep voice, and he comes through too,” explained Courtea. “We don’t know who he is, but he comes over that a lot.”
The pair also say that churches are not normally places that see spiritual activity. However, this church has a lot of history, from housing coal miners in the early 1800s, to a man who reportedly died when working on the building’s roof.
As part of the Chestnut Grove Church’s revitalization, the new owner will be hosting an open house on Wednesday October 9th, all are encouraged to join.
