No new taxes in tentative Clearfield County budget

Clearfield, PA – The Clearfield County Commissioners have approved a tentative 2022 budget without any increase in county taxes.

The budget will keep taxes at 25 mills.

Although mills can be a confusing concept, it means that in Clearfield County a homeowner with a home value of $100,000 would pay $625 in county real estate tax per year.

The commissioners say they had to work hard to balance the budget.

One major cost in the budget was the renovation project at the Clearfield County Jail, which cost $9 million. Clearfield County used $1 million in COVID-19 relief money and the other $8 million comes from a 20-year loan.
