HARRISBURG – State Treasurer Stacy Garrity is warning Pennsylvanians that scammers are now using text messages to target potential unclaimed property claimants.
Garrity is reminding state residents that the Treasury Department never reaches out to people regarding any program, including unclaimed property, with unsolicited text messages.
She is urging anyone who receives one of these phishing-type messages to not click on any links, but instead ignore and promptly delete the message.
