New Mexico man killed, passenger seriously injured in I-80 DUI

Washington Township, PA – A New Mexico man was killed and his passenger was seriously injured after a suspected DUI crash Tuesday afternoon on Interstate 80 in Jefferson County.

State Police in DuBois say the crash happened around 12:45 p.m. Tuesday on I-80 eastbound near mile marker 93.6 in Washington Township, near Falls Creek.

A 2001 Chevy Tracker was in the left lane, attempting to pass another vehicle, when it lost control trying to re-enter the right lane. It went off the roadway, overturned, and struck several trees, finally coming to rest on its roof.

The driver, 35-year-old Jason Henry from Roswell, New Mexico, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His passenger, 26-year-old Shelby Black from Roswell, New Mexico, suffered serious injuries. She was flown to UPMC Altoona via STAT MedEvac.

State Police say that pills, a Lemon 7 THC lollipop, and a pill crusher were found at the scene. A toxicology report on the driver is still pending.

One lane of I-80 eastbound was closed for about 2 hours and 45 minutes after the crash on Tuesday.
