CLEARFIELD – Another computer scam attempt is gaining momentum in the Tri-County area, and police are warning you to be wise to what’s happening.
Recently in the Clearfield area there have been reports of unknown suspects hacking into personal computers and posing as a representative for Microsoft.
The suspect then informs the computer user that the devices are compromised but will help fix the problems in exchange for buying and forwarding a Lowe’s gift card in a large amount.
Police warn that this is a scam, and you should never give out your private information to people or organizations you are not familiar with.
