SANDY TOWNSHIP – An ATA Operations and Maintenance Center multiple years in the making is now fully operational.
The facility, located at Spider Lake Road in Sandy Township, broke ground two years ago on the $25 million dollar project.
The center will cover transportation services for the Clearfield County and Jefferson County areas.
ATA’s fleet currently consists of almost 100 vehicles that serve an area that spans over 5,000 miles, providing over 350,000 riders a year.
According to ATA’s Chief Executive Officer Mark Head, this new facility will provide a much needed service to our area.
“35% of our activity is in this area,“ explained Head. “It will better allow us to serve the community, and to get our message out, and to facilitate public transit. Which is a very big need in our area and I’ve seen it first hand on a daily basis.”
What’s the next step for ATA, to promote education on using public transit.
