Municipal Vacancies Causing High Workload

DUBOIS/SANDY TOWNSHIP – Multiple municipal position vacancies in both Sandy Township and the City of DuBois is causing an extremely high workload and possible turnover for current workers.

In the latest hiring want, the city and township would like to have a full-time HR person to provide assistance to an employee who handles that on top of finances, and is currently being stretched thin. Especially as consolidation nears.

While the consolidation of DuBois and Sandy Township will ultimately reduce the number of total employees, as city Manager Lisa Hagberg says, the vacancies have left many working multiple job descriptions.

“We are really working hard to try and figure out the staff we have and their capabilities,” explained Hagberg. “And we want to elevate them into new roles and adding responsibilities where we can. But we don’t want to overwhelm them.”

Other notable vacancies include the City Manager and Interim Manager, whose positions have been sought for multiple years.
