MOSHANNON VALLEY — A project to establish a new headquarters and training center for emergency medical services personnel in the Moshannon Valley area has received a financial boost.

A $300,000 Appalachian Regional Commission Grant has been approved for the Moshannon Valley EMS, which will be added to more than $1.5-million the organization has already secured for the project.

Manager Wes Cartwright, says Mo Valley EMS has outgrown its current building, and there is a need for more trained staff as the station serves portions of three counties, including the eastern part of Clearfield County.

Cartwright said plans are for the new facility to be built at the former Philipsburg Hospital site, and they could be breaking ground next year if final funding is confirmed.
