DuBois, PA – More details are being released about a drug bust in Brookville that brought in $11,000 worth of heroin and meth.

29-year-old Matthew Meholic from DuBois is facing 13 felony counts each of the manufacture, delivery, or possession with inter to manufacture or deliver, plus 13 counts of intentional possession of a controlled substance, and other related drug charges.

The case was originally brought to the attention of police because of a tip given to the Elk County Overdose Task Force. Around noon on Thursday, Jan. 16, the Brookville Police Department was informed that there was a suspected drug dealer potentially staying at the Brookville Super 8 Motel.

Further investigation confirmed that Meholic was staying there, had allegedly gone to Pittsburgh to pick up drugs, and was later seen returning with a large bag that he did not have when he checked in.

When police went to visit Meholic and searched the hotel room, they found $11,200 of illegal products, including 560 stamp bags of heroin, methamphetamine, numerous items of drug paraphernalia, and more than $2,370 in cash. That includes 11 bricks of heroin that Meholic had hidden inside of a coffee maker.

Meholic is currently lodged in the Jefferson County Jail on $30,000 bail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 4.
