Pennsylvania – Anyone on public transportation, including kids on school buses, will have to wear masks due to the spread of COVID-19.
DuBois Area School District sent out a reminder for families to talk with their students about having to keep their mask on on bus rides.
DASD encouraged everyone to make the bus drivers’ jobs a little less stressful, especially as they will be driving in the snow during winter and don’t need any additional distractions such as kids not following masking requirements.
The rule comes from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) in conjunction with the CDC, extending the mask mandate for all public transportation networks nationwide until March 18.

Face Coverings Are Strongly Encouraged at School
DASD is in Need of Substitutes in All Departments
Dear DASD Families,
In collaboration with the CDC, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has extended the face mask requirement for all public transportation networks, including school provided transportation, until March 18th, 2022. If you choose to utilize the district’s transportation services, please continue to provide a protective face covering for your son/daughter.
As we progress through the winter months and travel on winter road conditions, it is imperative that we work together to support our drivers to limit distractions on their daily routes. Unless your child has a medical exemption, please talk with your son/daughter about the importance of wearing a protective face covering at all times when utilizing school provided transportation. Through your cooperation and support, our drivers can stay focused on safely transporting our students to and from school.
Additionally, five of our six schools have experienced an increase in cases of COVID-19 resulting in exposures and quarantines at school. Please continue to monitor symptoms daily and conduct a wellness screening of your student prior to the start of each school day. Protective face coverings at school, continue to be strongly encouraged to reduce the potential for exposure to COVID-19 and other airborne illnesses. To reduce the likelihood of exposure and quarantine, individuals are strongly encouraged to keep a protective face covering in their possession and to utilize the face covering at times when social distancing is not possible.
Finally, please be advised that the District is in need of substitute employees in all departments (Teachers, Instructional and Child Specific Aides, Secretaries, Custodial, Drivers and Food Service Staff) and has recently increased the rate of pay to incentivize individuals to join our team.
