CLEARFIELD – A DuBois man will serve up to 40 years in state prison for shooting and killing a man who was having an affair with his wife.

In Clearfield County Court on Monday, 61-year-old Glen “Chet” Johnston was sentenced to a 20-to-40 year prison term.

Two months ago a jury found Johnston guilty of third-degree murder, aggravated and simple assault, and recklessly endangering another person.

Johnston shot and killed 46-year-old Jude Srock, also of DuBois, in a parking lot on South Franklin Street in March 2022.

At this week’s sentencing, Srock’s mother said, “There are no words to define the emotional effect on this family.”

Johnston also addressed the court, saying he was “Sorry for everything that’s happened,” and he added, “There is no way I will ever stop hating myself” and “I can’t forgive myself.”

When handing down the sentence, Judge Frederic Ammerman commented that Johnston’s killing of Srock “destroyed a lot of lives.”
