Man sentenced for assaulting a DuBois woman

CLEARFIELD – A 43-year-old man was sentenced up to one year of jail time after he plead guilty to assaulting a DuBois woman and stealing her phone.

According to court documents, Ryan Wells of Carlisle was originally charged with felony robbery and strangulation, but his guilty plea this week was to lesser, misdemeanor counts.

DuBois Police filed charges against Wells last year after he allegedly fought with the victim, took her to the ground, grabbed her by the throat, and then stole her phone.

Wells was also sentenced to two years of probation, and he was ordered to surrender any firearms he may own since it was a case of domestic violence,
