Brookville, PA – More details are emerging about the abuse of a 13-month-old boy in Brookville, including the identity of the man who is accused.

26-year-old Brandon Corey Motter from Brookville is facing felony charges for aggravated assault of a child, plus misdemenaors for endangering the welfare of children, simple assault, and recklessly endangering another person.

Police say the Motter is the boyfriend of the mother of that child.

After noticing bruising and bleeding on the young boy’s genitals last Thursday, she was urged to take the baby to the ER. A medical examination found that the baby had bruising near his eye and above his ears, a bruise in between his thumb and forefinger, what appeared to be a bruise in the shape of a handprint on his buttocks, and other injuries near his genitalia.

Motter admitted to police that he became frustrated with the boy when the child wouldn’t stop screaming, so he grabbed his by the head and also slapped him. He contends that the other injuries could have come from the child’s highchair restraints or from the boy rolling around on toys or pulling books down on himself.

The mother of the child says she had left the boy in the care of Motter, her live-in boyfriend, while she was at work. She says she saw the child was asleep in his room whenever she came home, but she didn’t notice anything wrong until she went to change his diaper around 10 a.m. the next morning. She admits that she left the child alone for about 10 hours with no food, water, or changing his diaper.

Motter remains lodged in the Jefferson County Jail on $50,000 bail, awaiting his preliminary hearing this Thursday.
