Unconscious man strikes fire hydrant in Summerville

Summerville, PA – A man hit a fire hydrant in Summerville after going unconscious while driving.

74-year-old Charles Brown from Summerville had been driving along Harrison Street when he went off of the road and struck the fire hydrant on Sunday afternoon.

Members of the Summerville Fire Department arrived on scene and found Brown unresponsive with his foot still on the gas pedal.

Rescuers forced their way through the front passenger window and put the vehicle into park.

Brown was taken to Penn Highlands Brookville with injuries of unknown severity.

The investigation is ongoing.
