Man Charged After Allegedly Dragging Dog with Truck

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP – A man is facing multiple charges after allegedly dragging his dog with a truck in late October.

On October 29th, State Police officers received reports of a dog being dragged by a white pickup truck on Route 208 in Washington Township.

Once on scene, officers noticed evidence of injury on the roadway and a dead German Shepherd in the truck’s bed.  

The driver of the truck, 34 year-old Richard Ganci III allegedly told officers that he did not realize the dog was tied to the back of the truck when he went to pick up a family member. He claimed he did not hear anything due to the truck’s noise.

He allegedly drove a total of four miles with speeds up to 55 miles per hour.

On December 20th, he was charged with multiple charges including Felony aggravated cruelty to animals causing death and careless driving.
