UNDATED – A major ice storm is predicted for our area, we tell you the latest from road crews.
Between Wednesday night and Thursday afternoon we are expected to have a layer of ice between 0.25 to 0.35 inches thick.
While anything over 0.10 inches is tough to travel through we spoke with Steve Harmic with PennDOT on how their crews are ready with salt trucks for when the ice begins to fall.
“We’re always cautioning people, if you don’t have to travel, the best thing you can do is stay home, stay off the highways for everyone’s safety,“ explained Harmic.
With this much ice tree branches may fall and the likelihood of power outages will be higher. A list of travel restrictions can be found on the 511PA website.
We will have the latest information on emergency services and closings/delays live on air and on our website.
