Lockdown at Clearfield County Jail after staff member tests positive for COVID-19

Clearfield, PA – A staff member at the Clearfield County Jail tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday, and the facility is now on lockdown.

The Clearfield County Commissioners released a statement on behalf of the prison board, saying that no in-person visitations will be allowed at the jail for the time being.

The jail has been following COVID safety protocols since March, and those will continue to be followed, along with contact tracing, isolation, and testing.

They say they’ll keep the public informed if there are any developments.

The Clearfield County Jail has become aware that a staff member tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday, November 5. Warden Kessling immediately put the facility on lockdown; no in-person visitations will be allowed for the time being. The jail has had COVID safety protocols in place since March and those will be followed rigorously. CDC-recommended contact tracing, isolation, and testing protocols will be followed. We will keep the public informed of any additional developments.
