DUBOIS – With school back in session, things are ramping up at the local YMCA which is providing many opportunities for our local youth.
The DuBois Area YMCA is currently running a middle school initiative program, allowing children to access the athletic center during their first year for free.
The center also has educational programs for bullying and places for children to do school work.
According to the President and CEO of the DuBois Area YMCA, Scott Frano, the facility provides a lot of opportunity for our local children.
“Parents will know that their kids are in a safe environment,” explained Frano. “They will be around their friends, they can work out, they can do basketball, they can work on their homework, we have a learning and relief center there. Yeah it’s pretty impressive for them, and at about 2:40 everyday we see the herd of them coming over from the middle school, it’s pretty fun to see.”
Coming October 26th the YMCA will be hosting a Halloween run for fun 5k, where you can dress up in costume and participate in the marathon.
