DUBOIS – The Make-A-Wish Foundation gives hope to children with critical illnesses. This year, 10 counties surrounding the DuBois area raised a total of $2,558,348.74 to support the Light Up A Child’s Life campaign.
Lacy Bair, Regional Manager of Make-A-Wish, took charge to explain the impactful efforts of the Make-A-Wish Light Up A Child’s Life Campaign, and what it means for children.
Sunny 106 held its 30th annual auction to support the foundation. From Dec. 4 through Dec. 8, they raised a total of $134,000.72 with assistance from the on-air auction.
This year, Sonya Fetterhoff, Events Coordinator for Priority Media, coordinated the auction with the ambition of breaking this new record in upcoming years. Children who received their wish talked on-air at Sunny 106 at the conclusion of the campaign. Local schools combined their efforts to raise money for the foundation through basket raffles, penny wars, duck races, pie-throwing contests, themed weeks, and hosting other events throughout the academic year. “Each school does something completely different, and not one of them does the same thing,”
says Fetterhoff.
The Pulaski, Sandy Hose Company, and Olympic Athletic Club were also responsible for raising $25,000.00.
