DuBois, PA – Another Friday the Lenten season means that many people are not eating meat today, so be on the lookout for churches, non-profits, and restaurants holding fish fries.

Up until 1966, Catholics did not eat meat on any Friday. Now, the Catholic Church says Catholics should just abstain from meat on Fridays during Lent, along with Ash Wednesday.

Catholics believe this is symbolic of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

Easter is Sunday, April 4 this year.

Listen to the full Contact show with Becky Dutra and Jodi Stewart, both theology teachers at DuBois Central Catholic School, talking about the meaning of Lent and what the students at DCC are doing to mark the occasion.
