Learning Through Trucks

SHARE NOW

DUBOIS – Hundreds of kids flooded to the DuBois Walmart Saturday to view and learn about a variety of emergency, contractor, and unique vehicles.

This year’s Touch a Truck event saw fire trucks, emergency vehicles, tow trucks, semi trucks, FedEx, the Salvation Army, bucket trucks, an ATA bus, and new this year a monster truck.

One of the key figures of making Touch a Truck a reality, Melissa Martin, says that this is a key learning event for our local children.

“It plants a seed in their head that, hey I can drive the tri-axle, I can be a dump truck driver, or a rescue person,“ explained Martin. “It’s to plant the seed in them to see things that they normally wouldn’t see as far as career wise.”

The Touch a Truck event has been going on since 2008, showcasing dozens of vehicles for our local children.
