Lawrence Twp family escapes fire by fleeing onto porch roof

Lawrence Township, PA – A family in Lawrence Township had to flee onto their roof to escape a fire yesterday.

Crews were called out to the home of 43-year-old Michael and 42-year-old Rebecca Owens on Palmer Street in the Kerr Addition area near Clearfield around 6:50 Sunday morning.

The family had escaped onto their porch roof, five people in total… the parents and three children.

Although the home was a complete loss, the family and their dogs were able to escape. Rebecca and Mike had minor injuries. A turtle and fish died in the fire.

Damage is estimated at $150,000, and the cause was undetermined.

Neighbors provided water to Lawrence Township firefighters on scene, and the McDonald’s brought sandwiches.
