Fox Township, PA – An Elk County woman lost $3,000 to a scam recently.
The 32-year-old Kersey woman reportedly sent $3,000 worth of gift cards to an unknown person who was posing as a sheriff’s deputy.
It happened July 27. Once again, police are reminding you to never send money or give personal or financial information to anyone you don’t know.
Be suspicious of anyone who calls you out of the blue, claims you will be in legal trouble, or claims you have won something.
Also, no one will ever demand that you pay specifically in gift cards, especially not the police or IRS.
