West Mifflin, PA – Kennywood amusement park will celebrate its 125th season in 2022, with lots of new events and refurbishments.
It includes a makeover for Kennywood’s park entrance and main gate, along with the Old Mill and the Jack Rabbit roller coaster queue lines.
Kennywood fans can also have a say in how the new queue lines are redesigned! You can vote once per day at Kennywood.com/125-celebration now until Christmas Eve.
The Beer Garden area will also be redesigned.
The Race roller coaster and the Jack rabbit will both be repainted in 2022.
The dearly missed Kangaroo ride is being brought back to Kennywood after being removed for the 2021 season. The classic ride is getting refurbished and redesigned.

Kangaroo Bounces Back
A true Kennywood classic will rejoin the park’s world-class collection of rides in 2022. The iconic Kangaroo will return fully refurbished and ready to thrill riders with its unique ride experience – a rite of passage for younger guests seeking bigger thrills.
More than a ride, Kangaroo is a timeless Kennywood tradition. Riders have looked forward to the feeling of weightlessness aboard the attraction for generations. Now, the ride that served as the inspiration for Kennywood’s mascot will make its triumphant return 60 years after its initial debut.
In partnership with Premier Rides – one of the amusement industry’s leading ride manufacturers and innovators – Kennywood has begun a total refurbishment of Kangaroo. This work will enhance the experience with an all-new LED lighting package, vibrant new colors, and state of the art operating systems while still providing the classic “Flying Coaster” feel.

Spring Kickoff – April 23-May 22 – NEW! We’re lighting the fuse on 2022 with an unforgettable 125th Anniversary Celebration featuring unique entertainment and specialty food and beverage offerings each weekend. Saturdays and Sundays.
May 26-June 26 – Bites And Pints Food & Drink Festival is returning for a second course! After its delicious debut in 2021, we’re expanding this 4-day food and drink festival in 2022. (Pro Tip: Bring your stretchy pants). Thursday through Sundays.
July 1-4 – Celebrate America – This classic Kennywood 4th of July tradition will be booming in 2022! Enjoy nightly fireworks, Weiner 500 races, daily entertainment, and park discounts for our Servicemen and Servicewomen. Summer Light-Up Festival – NEW! The future of this new illuminating summer celebration is bright. See Kennywood in a whole new light and celebrate with us in July.
Aug. 6-21 – 72nd Annual Fall Fantasy Parades – Don’t miss one of Kennywood’s oldest and grandest traditions this August. The Fall Fantasy Parades march through the park each event and feature beautifully decorated floats and more than 130 local high schools and universities bands.
Phantom Fall Fest – Play all day, fright all night! This popular Halloween event was such a scream we’re bringing it back for a second year. Enjoy family-friendly fun, rides, and special food and drink options during the day. But when the sun goes down, the Phantom takes scream to the extreme!
Nov. 18-Jan. 1 – Holiday Lights – Pittsburgh’s home for the holidays, Holiday Lights at Kennywood, is recognized as one of the 10 Best Holiday Events in the United States. Enjoy a magical stroll through more than one million thinking lights, take a selfie in front of the largest Christmas tree in the state, and indulge with savory festive foods and holiday drinks.
