DUBOIS – When weather predictions call for snow, ice, and nasty cold weather, you are urged to take the proper precautions to stay safe on the roadways.
We heard from Josh Woods with the Highway Safety Network on preparations you can take to keep safe on the roadways.
“You want to make sure that you’re checking your fluid levels in your vehicle, your wipers are not streaking or causing visibility issues,“ explained Woods. “Your heater, and defroster, and radio are working properly. All your lights on that vehicle are working properly, including your turn signals and taillights.”
He also believes that you should have preparation items like blankets, food, and water in your vehicle at all times in case of an emergency.
PennDOT crews have also assured us that they are in constant contact with Emergency Management Services, The National Weather Service, and other officials to update you whenever inclement weather may make the roadways take a turn for the worst.
Officials also say that if the weather gets bad, you should exercise extreme caution and stay indoors whenever possible.
