BROCKWAY – Parents have a lot to worry about when sending their child to school, especially as bullying, mental health issues, and school shootings become more frequent. We spoke to those with the Brockway School Board on how your children are safe at school.
To keep children safe, the Brockway School District has a one door policy, making sure only one entrance to school grounds are available at a time.
According to Superintendent Brian Mulhollan, steps are in place to keep everyone at school safe.
“Last year, at the end of the year, we had State Police come in and do a needs assessment,” explained Superintendent Mulhollan. “They took a look at both buildings and they provided us with a report of some ideas on how we can improve, because we’re always hoping to improve. One of those areas was a single point of entry at the High School, that was one of the things we changed this year. There is a single point of entry, and therefore every student is met by our SPO as well as the administration.”
He went on to say the same applies for the elementary school, however a second point of entry is available during bussing hours.
