PUNXSUTAWNEY – A Jefferson County woman is facing theft charges for allegedly stealing more than $300 in cash, gift cards, and food from a Punxsutawney restaurant.

According to Punxsy Police, 23-year-old Kirah Lewter was employed by the business she stole from in December. Video surveillance reportedly shows Lewter taking money from two different cash registers, and ringing up three $50 gift cards for herself.

The restaurant’s manager says she gave Lewter an opportunity to return what had been stolen, but she refused; and even purchased food using one of the stolen gift cards before leaving.

Lewter’s preliminary hearing has been scheduled for January 24th.
