BIGLER – A Jefferson County teen was killed in a fiery two-vehicle crash near Woodland.
State Police say 19-year-old Derrick Burkett of Reynoldsville was driving south on Shiloh Road early Tuesday morning when he failed to stop at a red light at the intersection with Route 322 in Bradford Township.
An eastbound tractor trailer smashed into Burkett’s pickup, causing it to spin out of control, collide with guardrails, and then burst into flames.
Burkett was pronounced dead at the scene.
Both the driver of the tractor trailer and a passenger in Burkett’s vehicle were reportedly taken to Penn Highlands Clearfield for medical attention.
No details were provided on the severity of their injuries.
A portion of Route 322 was closed for several hours Tuesday morning due to the crash.
