Jefferson County man jailed on assault charges

PUNXSUTAWNEY – A 44-year-old Jefferson County man has been jailed on assault, harassment, and disorderly conduct charges.

According to court documents, Jeremy Newcome of Punxsutawney is accused of assaulting a man in a parked car, and smashing the vehicle’s fender with a mini baseball bat earlier this month.

Punxsutawney Police say the confrontation happened outside of a Park Avenue residence.

The victim reportedly suffered a cut over his eye when Newcome punched him two or three times, and a hole was allegedly put into his vehicle’s fender when Newcome struck it with the bat.

Newcome is currently being held in the Jefferson County Jail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled to resume on January 24th.
