Jefferson County man jailed, charged with intentionally starting house fire

PERRY TWP. – A 51-year-old Jefferson County man has been jailed, and he is facing multiple charges for allegedly lighting a house on fire, intentionally.

State Police say Leroy Harris of Punxsutawney is accused of arson with the danger of death, reckless burning, and risking a catastrophe.

Harris was reportedly distraught early Sunday morning when he tried to set fire to a Perry Township house which is owned by a 51-year-old DuBois woman.

Following his arraignment on five felony and three misdemeanor charges, Harris was lodged in the Jefferson County Jail with bail set at $50,000.

His preliminary hearing has not yet been scheduled, and police say the investigation is ongoing.
