HOUTZDALE – A state prison inmate from Jefferson County is facing new sexual assault charges.
According to State Police, 39-year-old Joseph Schaffer, currently serving time in Clearfield County’s SCI-Houtzdale, allegedly touched a nine-year-old girl inappropriately a number of times. Schaffer was reportedly living with the victim’s family at the time of the alleged assaults in 2022.
During their investigation, troopers say that Schaffer denied molesting the child, and claimed that he was never alone with her.
