REYNOLDSVILLE – Six felony theft, burglary, and trespass charges have been filed against a Jefferson County man for allegedly breaking into the same house twice to steal various household items and copper piping.

Police say 39-year-old Joseph Johnston of Reynoldsville was seen carrying items out of an Ohio Street’s home’s basement on December 17th. Police also say the owner of the residence had died just two weeks prior.

When questioned by officers, Johnston reportedly admitted to taking a microwave, a chair, and a safe on December 5th, and then he returned to cut copper pipes and fittings.

Following his arraignment, Johnston was sent to the Jefferson County Jail when he failed to post his $80,000 bail.

Johnston’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for today.
