SHARE NOW

SIGEL – Terroristic threats, simple assault, and harassment charges have been filed against a Jefferson County man who allegedly pointed a pepper spray gun at couple.

According to court documents, 60-year-old Ronald Hughes threatened to shoot the couple as they walked near a driveway on his property in Eldred Township earlier this month.

The victims told State Police troopers that Hughes pointed the gun at them and acted like he was firing the weapon, which they thought was an actual pistol. Hughes claims that he told the victims it was a pepper spray gun, and that he was acting in self-defense.

Hughes was released after posting $20,000 bail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 31st.
