Jefferson County High Speed Car Chase

ROSE TOWNSHIP – A high speed chase through Jefferson County has led to one man facing multiple felony charges. 

On November 24th at close to 3am police attempted to pull over a black Honda Shadow Motorcycle with an unreadable plate and no rear lighting. 

 The driver, later identified as 42 year-old Billy Smathers, then allegedly sped away from officers at speeds of up to 100 miles per hour. After pursuing for around 11 minutes, the driver laid the motorcycle down and fled on foot.

Police were then able to capture Smathers and place him into custody. He now faces multiple felony charges, including Fleeing, DUI, and other traffic violations.
