BROOKVILLE — The Jefferson County Commissioners have signed onto an agreement which will allow local police and other first responders to better communicate with the State Police.
According to Jefferson County’s Director of Emergency Services, Tracy Zents, the intergovernmental agreement for Talkgroups will “allow multiple agencies … to have communications on one common radio channel without putting officer safety in jeopardy.” Zents said that Talkgroups will allow the 911 center to monitor daily traffic of state police from the DuBois, Punxsutawney, and Ridgway stations without having to switch channels.
Jefferson County will incur no cost to participate in Talkgroups.
