PUNXSUTAWNEY – A Jefferson County fire hall was torn down this week, but a new building is expected to be up within a few weeks.
Punxsutawney’s Elk Run Volunteer Fire Company had to tear down the old structure, which was built 102 years ago, because they were experiencing many different problems.
Elk Run Fire Chief Doug McAfoos said the new building will be constructed in the same spot as the old one, and the fundraising support of the community has been amazing.
