JEFFERSON COUNTY – Jefferson County’s 911 Center is receiving over $450,000 dollars in federal funding for major upgrades.
Officials say that the current system is over 30 years old and is in dire need of improvements to keep up with numerous calls and increasing technologies.
The ultimate goal is to have a faster, more reliable emergency response system.
This funding will be used to pay for an engineering study on possible upgrades or a new location. Construction is expected to begin within the next couple of years.
