REYNOLDSVILLE – Jeff Tech has broken ground on its “Farm to Refrigerator” butchering project.

School and county officials, as well as Congressman Glenn “GT” Thompson, recently gathered at the Reynoldsville facility for the groundbreaking celebration. Jeff Tech officials are hoping the $2.4-million project will be complete and open by next school year. Students will learn the process of cutting up and processing an animal for food. Jeff Tech Director Barry Fillman said, “It’s a unique opportunity for the community to revitalize farming, to revitalize, how we purchase meat, how we feed our families, and really to provide jobs for our families.”

Congressman Thompson assisted the school with getting project funding, and he said the opportunity is unique, and he has traveled around the country and state bragging about Jeff Tech.
