REYNOLDSVILLE – Two local legislators came to our area Tuesday to discuss and try to work through our concerns.
Hosted by the Brookville Chamber of Commerce at Jeff Tech Senator Chris Dush and Representative Brian Smith spoke with residents about their problem areas.
Senator Dush spoke at length about the budget and potential financial crisis we could face stating “we just don’t have the money”, he also went on to say that he does not agree with the spending habits of the Governor and due to that taxes may need to go up.
The Senator did tout that in the past three years the Rainy Day monies the Commonwealth has gone from the bottom five percent of all states to above average.
Representative Brian Smith mirrored what the Senator had to say, saying that there was no issue too small for him.
“That’s one thing about this job, the issues don’t stop,“ said Representative Smith. “As soon as you fix one, or try to fix one, or get someone headed down the right path the next phone calls, or the constituent calls and they have another issue. That’s one of the reasons I love the job, I like to keep moving, it keeps you young, it keeps you doing what you can do. So nothing really stood out, there was lots of good conversation but it’s all important.”
Representative Smith hopes to be back in session by the end of September.
