Inmate Desires More Time Behind Bars; Preliminary Hearing on Tuesday for Assaulting Corrections Officer

BROOKVILLE – A Jefferson County Jail inmate will soon find out if he has achieved his goal of wanting to spend more time behind bars.

According to court documents, 25-year-old Daniel Barrick will have a preliminary hearing Tuesday on charges that he intentionally assaulted a corrections officer.

Barrick allegedly punched the officer, and later told a State Police Trooper that “life is too hard outside of jail” and that he hit the officer “to get more time.”

New charges against Barrick include aggravated assault, simple assault, and harassment.
