High-speed chase and foot pursuit after traffic stop in Punxsy

Punxsutawney, PA – A weekend traffic stop in Punxsutawney led to a high-speed chase through the town.

Just before noon on Sunday, State Police in Punxsutawney say they were attempting to pull over someone on Orchard Avenue.

The vehicle sped away and committed several traffic violations in an attempt to flee from troopers.

The car stopped on Valley Road, then two young men fled on foot. They were both caught after a brief foot pursuit.

19-year-old Logan Spade from Punxsutawney, the driver of that vehicle, was found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana.

He faces multiple charges, including a felony for fleeing police, and misdemeanors for DUI of a controlled substance, recklessly endangering another person, and possession of a drug. He also faces several summary offenses for the traffic violations he committed during the chase.

Spade was lodged in the Jefferson County Jail on $80,000, awaiting his preliminary hearing on May 14.

Charges have not yet been filed against the other occupant of the car, 20-year-old Clayton Joiner from DuBois.

Police are continuing to investigate.
