Happy New Year! Advice for safe, stress-free holiday

SHARE NOW

DuBois, PA – As the ball drops and we close out 2019 and welcome in 2020, take a moment to think about the people who have made the past year special for you.

Dr. Ralph May from the Community Guidance Center says it’s a good opportunity to reach out to somebody.

As we reflect on the past 12 months, consider the people who made a difference in your life. Give them a phone call or send them a message. Tell them that you appreciate the role they have played in your life.

New Year’s Eve is also a very hopeful holiday. It’s full of aspirations for the upcoming year. Instead of focusing entirely on things you want to accomplish in 2020, take a few minutes to give yourself a pat on the back for the things you’ve done THIS year!

Celebrate in a safe and responsible. New Year’s celebrations don’t have to be crazy… Don’t feel pressured if all you want to do is cozy up on your couch for the holiday.

Listen to Dr. May’s full interview and his Contact Show about the holiday season, stress, and focusing on the true meaning of the holidays.

If you’re going to be breaking out the champagne glasses and if alcohol is going to be a part of your New Year’s Eve celebrations, please make sure that you have a safe and sober way home.

Remember, DUI doesn’t just mean driving under the influence of alcohol… any kind of recreational drugs or prescription drugs can impair your driving. Driving in these winter weather conditions can be dangerous, so imagine how much more dangerous it would be if you drive while impaired.

There is never any excuse to get behind the wheel while under the influence. Make your plan before you go out and celebrate. If you find yourself in a situation where you need a ride, call a friend or a taxi.

With technology nowadays, it’s even easier to stay safe. You can download the free SaferRide app to find a way home, and now Uber is even available in the DuBois area. We want all of our listeners to start off the New Year on a good note, so make it your resolution to celebrate safely.
