UNDATED – With a slew of different Halloween festivities hitting our area over the next two weeks, we take a deep dive into keeping your children safe on the roadways.
We spoke with PennDOT’s Safety Press Officer, Steve Harmic, who believes that you should take multiple precautions while preparing for the night out.
“Trick-Or-Treat in most locations is after dark,“ explained Harmic. “Of course we can’t tell kids what to be on Halloween, we don’t want to ruin their Halloween, but even if they do choose a costume with dark colors, you can do things like wear reflective tape, portable flashing light beacon, just do things to keep yourself more visible and of course always be aware of your surroundings, stay alert, and look for cars.”
Drivers should also be aware of their surroundings at all times.
