DUBOIS –  A string of memorial benches is making their way to DuBois.

In an effort to address community feedback and demand for outdoor seating, Downtown DuBois is launching their Memorial Bench Program.

Executive Director Shirley Dahrouge says each bench comes with a $3,000 dollar price tag, which comes engraved and placed in a planned location. With three on the docket and more available for businesses to sponsor.

“This is a benefit to the public,“ explained Dahrouge. “We have Highrises with elderly that would love outdoor seating, just to sit outside and get some fresh air. We have Food Truck Mondays, and there is only one bench, and it’s always utilized.”

With three planned for the corner of West Long Avenue and Jared Street, between West Long Avenue and West Scribner Avenue, and at 35 West Long Avenue, these benches are designed to make the downtown more welcoming and provide resting spots for everyone.
