DuBois, PA – The DuBois Area School District will be offering an opportunity for parents to learn about how their kids interact with social media on Tuesday, Oct. 6 at 6:30 p.m.
Connor Ferrara from the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General will be hosting a webinar entitled Social Media 101 – What Parents Need to Know.
This is free of charge and open to all parents and guardians within the DuBois Area School District.
This presentation gives parents a foundational education on understanding the social media sites their children use and how to keep them safe while using them. Parents will learn how to navigate and learn how to enable the security features on the “apps,” along with recognizing the importance of knowing their child’s passwords. Monitoring children’s behavior and interactions on the internet is very critical in today’s world. Children are being targeted by online predators and cyber bullying at an alarming rate.
The webinar will be open and available to be joined by anyone with the connection information below between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. However, the speaker will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. so attendees should join prior to that time. It may be a good idea to verify that the Webex app works on your device prior to the webinar.
The webinar will be recorded so that anyone who misses it may view it in the future. If you have any questions please feel free to contact Christine Kline at (814) 375-8770 prior to the event.
