Florida man in Clearfield County Jail after allegedly attacking warehouse employee

SANDY TWP – Police say a Florida man is in the Clearfield County Jail on felony assault charges after he allegedly attacked an employee of a Sandy Township paper and packaging warehouse.

According to court documents, 29-year-old Jovaughn Matthie of Casselberry, Florida is a truck driver who was picking up a load at the warehouse earlier this week.

The victim of the assault told police that Matthie became upset when he was told that he had driven to the wrong part of building, and when the employee called him “Hoss” – a name the victim said he uses with everyone he talks to.

Matthie allegedly spat in man’s face, and punched him in the head, face, and ribs causing severe injuries.

Matthie was arraigned in DuBois District Court and is currently behind bars in Clearfield with his bail set at $50,000.
