BROOKVILLE – Firefighters in Jefferson County were kept busy Wednesday and Friday last week responding to a pair of fires.
A fire that broke out inside a dry lumber storage building Wednesday evening has been ruled accidental. No one was hurt in the blaze, and firefighters reportedly had flames under control just 25 minutes after arriving on scene. According to the State Police Fire Marshal, damage to the facility along Route 36 in Oliver Township is estimated at $10,000.
Fire Marshal investigators are looking into what caused a fire that destroyed a garage and damaged several nearby buildings along Route 322 in Union Township on Friday morning. No injuries were reported in that blaze. State Police say a Brookville couple suffered $60,000 in losses and damages.
